"Shush" at the Abbey Theatre

The Abbey Theatre will be showing their very popular show Shush until July 20th. I recommended it to all. It is quite humorous and moving at the same time.

"Shush is a funny and insightful story of female friendship and its power to overcome life’s adversities."

See how birthday cakes and Bacardi help these women overcome their difficulties and learn how to live life one day at a time.

Losing sleep

It's not always easy being an Arsenal FC fan. Having already bought the new T-Shirt for next years matches, I am just ready for them to go out and get some top notch players. This year, I have a feeling, if we get the right players, we will go far.

I'm ready to have a good nights sleep again. Who's with me??

New TV Series: The Returned

The other day, a good friend of mine recommended the new TV series called The Returned. Saying it is one of his favorites at the moment. So, I decided to do some research on the series.

I found out that it is an eight-part French TV drama that is based off the 2004 movie called Les Revenants. The series plot starts off four years after a coach taking local teenagers on a school trip plunged down the side of a French mountain, killing several of the students on board. But as the town begins to plan a four year memorial for these students, the children start coming home, acting as if nothing happened, followed by the ghosts of the children that were killed.

It is not your normal zombie drama series. I am quite interested in seeing how it plays out.

So, to my readers. I urge you to give this show a shot and let me know what you think. You can watch it on Channel 4, on Sundays at 9 p.m.

Here is the link for an article about the series:

Tips on self taping

Hi guys!

Lots of you have asked me how to go about self-taping, as it is becoming much more prominent throughout the casting field.

First off, you don't have to rush out and buy the most expensive camera in the world. Ask around, friends, neighbors, cousins, aunts and uncles, for a decent standard camera.

Before you even attempt to audition, read the entire script. It's only then you can make a creative decision about how you interpret your scenes.

Be off book. It vastly increases you chances.

For the reading, ask an actor friend to feed you the lines. Non-actor readers usually sound dreadful and could potentially jar your performance.

If possible, get somebody to operate the camera. If not, stick it on a tripod.

Find yourself a blank and neutral wall, with no pictures to distract us in the background, just you against the wall.

Ident yourself. State your name, agent or self represented and part reading for. Include one long shot to show your build then go close up, head and shoulders.

Do the take opposite the reader and look at the reader.

Again, last point, and I am repeating myself here, your best chance is to be off book. And remember, what you don't say is as important as what you do say as the camera will be pointing at you at all times.
